4 out of 5 stars Here I come to save the daaaaaayyyyyy!   December 22, 2008
For less than $15 this game is a steal. Especially since it is on Issue #13 (another way of saying a patch that adds new content). This is also one of the "lower priced" Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG for short) out in the market. I played this when it first cam out several years ago (City of Heroes) and this past summer, I missed it. I also lost my copy, so I bought this version.br /br /Basically, you create a hero and protect the citizens of Paragon City in City of Heroes. In City of Villians, you cause mayhem. Each game has well over 5 zones which target certain levels. The highest level to reach is level 50. You choose from different power pools and sets. They range from mental abilities, electricity, healing and flight. All types of missions are available; from rescuing people to bank missions (robbing or protecting depending on the villain or hero respectively). You can enhance your powers to provide more power, accuracy, and recharge rate. Story arcs are several missions combined within a theme. You can nnow earn medals and merits for completing story arcs.br /br /The graphics aren't bad but for some time, I have been saddened by the cardboard graphics where you see the building just standing there. You can't take a fight inside a building (unless you are doing a mission inside one) and blow out windows or part of the building (remember the fight in Superman II between Christopher Reeve and the 3 villains?)br /br /The people of Paragon wave to you and mention some of your good deeds from time to time. It would be nice to see more villains added and some slight updates to the graphics. br /br /You can lower the price of your monthly subscription by buying several months at a time. Instead of paying monthly, I pay for every 3 months. It's a delightful game which allows you to fight battles by yourself or in a group.

5 out of 5 stars Still The Best   July 14, 2008

After many years and many game updates, this is still one of the best MMOs out there. For anyone who has never played it, I highly recommend it.

4 out of 5 stars The only game I have on my computer these days.   May 6, 2008

I've owned this game for almost 4 years... I think. I took about a year off and just came back to it after my roomate started playing on my account and soon my girlfriend got hooked too. This is a great MMO and has the best online community I've been a part of. The challenge level really picks up in the mid-20's, but this has been relieved a bit lately with the XP smoothing they've applied to the game. You really should try this one if you're getting bored with your current MMO or just starting out in the MMO world.

3 out of 5 stars City of Fun/City of nofun   March 26, 2008

Ok heres the deal. If you like comic books and comic book super heroes then you will probably like this game....for a while. The character creation is unmatched by any game I have ever seen. Every person I know that plays it and many that have never actually played the game enjoyed the creation process that often can take several hours out of your day. There are thousands of possibilities in creating your super heroes look which is exciting but daunting.br /br /As for game play...I started playing CoH years ago because I wanted to fly. Its that simple. I loved the idea of going flying over the top of the city, swooping down, beating up bad guys and flying away again.br /br /This is still the main reason I play. I love to fly.br /br /Graphics wise, it is not bad, its not too tough on computers, its got some fun factor to it for the first 20 levels. After 20 levels it seems to become very repetative to the point of boredom. You will get tired of the same city zones and defeating the same types of villians and then you get a new city and its fun for 3-4 levels and then it becomes boring again and then you get to a new city and its great. br /br /The story archs are often long drawn out reads that mean nothing.br /br /In my opinion there is no greater fun than flying, except when an alien invasion occurs and you and 50 other heroes from around the world that you do not know are in the streets defending the city. It is an awesome battle and a really neat scene.br /br /Grouping is easy, no matter which of my 20 characters I play I always have group invites.br /br /The "missions" you do are ok.br /br /The zones/dungeons you do your missions in are cool until you have done it them the millionth time.br /br /Overall I reccomend it.
