Brings me back.... January 1, 2009 I am so happy I ordered this collection. When I was a kid my dad introduced me to Sierra on-line games. While I did love the King's Quest games, I really fell in love with the earlier Police and Space Quest games. Playing these again is so refreshing, I got a genuine kick out of remembering Sierra's trademark style of making you absolutely crazy with windy staircases, humorous death scenes---just the creators' overall sense of humor. br /br /I had one problem installing the cd - I have Windows XP SP2 and it was having a hard time getting a data file from the cd. I was thinking I wouldn't ever get it to work, but finally just copied the file it needed onto my hard drive and located it that way -for some reason it couldn't get it on the cd. Glad I didn't give up, I really treasure these games. I wish Sierra was still around and still designing games like these...
Works on Vista, with a little help December 19, 2008 First of all, I should say I ordered the version pictured with the warrior holding a shield, and I received the version with the illustration of the seven cover boxes. No complaints, likely they are the same product, but the other version may not work, I can't say.br /br /You can get these great games to work in Vista this way:br /br /Install the software as is, and keep the digital manual handy, you'll need it to answer questions the games ask you. Go to StartComputerC drive. Create a new folder called "KQ". Find the installed folder (C:\Program Files\Sierra\KQC(TM)\) and copy the KQ 1-6 folders or move them to the KQ folder you created. KQ 7 should stay where it is. (see below.)br /br /The version of dosbox which comes with the CD won't work with Vista. Go to dosbox dot com and download the newest version of dosbox. Install and run it. type MOUNT C C:\KQ\KQ1SCI\ and hit enter (substitute 'KQ1SCI' with 'KQ2' through 'KQ6' as needed.)br /then type C: and hit enter br /then type SIERRA and hit enter. br /If you use your mouse in the window it will disappear, just hit the windows key and D to go back to the desktop and get your mouse back.br /br /For King's Quest 7, leave it in the original folder it was installed in. From vistagamedoctor dot com:br /In the KQ7 folder, right-click on "SIERRAW.EXE" and click "Properties."br /On the "Compatibility" tab, select "Run in 256 Colors" and "Run in 640x480 screen resolution."br /Launch the game using the SierraLauncher instead of double-clicking on "SIERRAW.EXE." (If you double-click on "SIERRAW.EXE," you'll get a "Windows title not found" error.)br /br /It's a little more work but well worth it! Have fun!br /
Childhood games back in action! October 31, 2008 I am so excited this was released! Absolutely perfect for the gamer who wants to be whisked back to childhood. I could sit and play for hours. Very easy to set up and play over and over! Awesome!
Great Retro RPG typing game collection August 10, 2008 King's Quest is just one of those nostalgic early RPG games from the late 80's and early 90's that is fun to mess around with. Hard to beat if you've never played before, easy once you have, and just fun to mess around with, these games are timeless classics that will give many hours of fun.
My Review August 8, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered this game because me, my brother, and my father used to play two of the games when I was young. Being able to play the games again brought back so many memories. Easy to download and very inexpensive!
