5 out of 5 stars Chess Mates   October 12, 2008
I realized this product was not produced any more but I did not know it would work on newer system. I was getting four copies for different grand children. I was able to get it to work on XP but I did not know if it would work on Vista. One copy went to my oldest daughter who has Vista and I have not heard if she got it to work. I have two more to send out. One goes to a son who works for Adobe so I am sure he will get it to work if I got it to work. The other goes to a daughter who is near me so I can get it to work for her.

To all those who love the game but cannot get it to run on win xp...br /br /Don't despair!br /br /Thanks to Donna who worked this out:br /br /"Here's what worked for me. I went into the cd folder and found br /the INST16.exe file. I left clicked on it and selected properties. Then, I clicked on the compatibility tab. I br /checked the following boxes: Run this program in compatibility mode for, Windows 95, Run in 256 colors. The br /rest should be unchecked. br /Now, after it installs, the icon on the desktop (or under Start, Programs) should be set as above except ALL the br /boxes should be checked. WOOHOO!!!! Have fun!"
