5 out of 5 stars An Excellent book for beginners!   November 26, 2008

I'm an MBA student and I'm taking a course in statistics. We don't have any book only powerpoint slides from the professor. I'm a beginner in statistics and was never good i math so I looked at Amazon.com for a book that could teach me in the simplest way how to get through the course. I have before bought Idiot's guide books and they are great. This statistic book fulfills my expectations and far more. I have learned so much that I'm beginning to like statistics! I'm not afraid of it. It's really fun and Bob the author is great in connecting the examples with our everyday life and he's also got great humor which makes the book more fun to study. There's every thing you need concerning statistics in this book. It's a best buy and I would not want to be without it.

5 out of 5 stars FINALLY!!!   November 13, 2008

No mumbo jumbo or unnecessary jargon here. If you wanna get a solid foundation of statistics, this is your book. As an MBA student, I needed a book to help me understand my statistics course (some professors are unable to teach in plain English). The style is concise and clear and the examples very funny. I also like the exercises at the end of each chapter. The author usually gives 3 or 4 questions where you basically apply the formulas you just learnt in the chapter, and in the last question, once you feel comfortable with the formulas, you usually have to apply some logic to answer the question. br /br /The probability chapters are also great, so there is no need to look at other probability books out there. br /br /I totally recommend this book to anybody with an interest in statistics, specially for beginners, or as a reference for those who already know the basics. br /br /br /br /

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic supplement to my Statistics course book   November 12, 2008

My textbook is called Statistics, Data Analysis, Decision Modeling by James Evans, and I absolutely hate it. The writing is extremely technical and the subject matter is poorly handled. This Idiots Guide to Statistics has both great coverage of Statistics, but also gives information about Excel's relationship to Statistics that I desperately needed. I highly recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for Getting the Idea of Statistics   November 10, 2008
If you need to gain a general idea of statistics with all the necessary terms, formulas and calculations, look no further! Compared with my statistics curriculum, it contains everything I need to know for my graduate curriculum. So, whilst learning about statistics by ways of a very easy-to-understand-but-not-patronizing language, I'm also having a LOT of fun. My days of studying statistics are interrupted by laughter and smiles throughout the book. The author is a comedian, apart from a great teacher. His examples go far beyond 'coin and dice' (yawn) and facilitate learning through down-to-earth thinking!

4 out of 5 stars Statistics help   October 21, 2008
I am currently taking a biostats class. As with most other math text books, the text for this class is very dry and hard to read. I bought this book because I thought it may help me to understand the concepts better than the text - or at least make the text easier to follow, and it has been a great help.
