Product Description
Experience the world of Tortuga, either as a buccaneer in the service of his Majesty the King, or as a feared and loathsome pirate. Your riches will increase beyond your wildest dreams through the successful theft, plundering and looting of ships and towns and the completion of missions. But make haste, treachery and mutiny can reduce all your efforts to nothing, or even worse, bring a shameful and early death. Navigate with great skill and precision and select your ammunition wisely as you launch attacks against traders, pirates and even the heavily guarded Spanish Treasure Fleet. Your decisions may well result in unimaginable wealth, or if you are less fortunate, devastating consequences.

3 out of 5 stars Fun for the first few hours   July 31, 2008
The first time I played this game, I was impressed by the beautiful interface and colorful graphics (for a game of its genre). Sea battles were especially fun, as you command a tiny slope to battle against a bigger frigate that could easily outgun you. However, that's pretty much all about this game. Sea battles become boring very quickly as you get bigger, more powerful ships; missions are boring at best, and you end up sailing around a small area hunting any ships you can find so your crew won't get unhappy too quickly. Once your crew's happiness level drops to red you need to split to booty and start over again. In summary, this game is fun if you only play it for a few hours, after that it's time to find another game.

3 out of 5 stars One shot pirate game   November 15, 2007

Good graphics, and enjoyable at the early game.br /Problems are.... there are no skill levels to choose from, that is you are started from easy and forced into hard level, no going back.br /The programers design the combat to irratate, example...br /pirate or enemy ships with all their sails and masts destroyed can out sail you even if you have no damage to you ship at all, I would like to see that happen in real life!br /Repetitive missions get boring fast.br /the wind effects are far to severe to be enjoyable.br /Thats all , at best its a one time play, then give it away the the Goodwill.
