5 out of 5 stars PARTITION MAGIC   September 19, 2008

Norton PartitionMagic 8.0br /This product was easy to install and accomplished what I was looking for. The product was recommended to me a number of years ago, and due to the number of operating system automatic updates and the limited size of my C drive, it became a neccessity.

1 out of 5 stars Description is WRONG -- Product is for Windows XP/2000/NT etc. not VISTA-- Beware   September 8, 2007

The product description is incorrect. It does not say Vista on the Box. I checked Symantec's website -- the product is for Windows XP / 2000 / ME / 98 etc. If you use it with Vista, you can screw up your configuration.

So I purchased this product used and the price was right. It's a very easy to use product as it makes partitioning your drives as easy as 1-2-3. I am a novice computer user and so I feel that if you are knowledgeable enough to know how this product works, then obviously you probably won't have a single problem using this software. Brought to you by Norton, a middle-of-the-road software manufacturer that offers software products to end users, I would highly reccomend this product to even the most novice of users. Although it is an easy product to use, I gave it only 3 stars as it only serves one very specific purpose. But you be the judge, don't take my word for it.

The Windows version rruns very nicely. Dos version can get a little messy. No more formatting to resize a hard disk. The Windows Disk map takes you through the procedure step by step. Highly recommend for the intermediate and above users.

Like a lot of semi-geeks I like to experiment with various versions("distros")of Linux all of which require separate partitions and usually a "swap file", assuming you're using a dual boot system. PM makes this an easy exercise as partitions can be created and deleted effortlessly. Also use it to keep the Windows XP partition at a minimal size to more quickly back it up with drive imaging software. Just a great program.
