Amazon.com Review
Sure, there are more modern NASCAR games out there. But if your computer isn't the latest and greatest machine on the block INASCAR Racing 99/I might deliver smoother racing satisfaction. This older title is crammed with enough features to keep fans of the sport satisfied for months, and it features an accurate enough physics model to be believable. INASCAR 99/I simulates individual races or the entire NASCAR Cup, NASCAR Grand National, or NASCAR Craftsman truck events. p The real challenge of this simulation is tweaking your car or truck so it runs perfectly on all of the 35 tracks simulated in the game. The modifications players can make are extensive, and the results of a good (or bad) tweaking session are immediately apparent after a few practice laps. p The graphics for the cars, trucks, and tracks are cleanly drawn, but the special effects suffer. Smoke is especially bad, consisting of several flat, 2-D gray "puffs" strung together in a row. The good news is that the lack of detail in the graphics means the game will run smoothly on just about any modern computer system. And you'll need all the speed your computer can deliver frames, since this game is all about precision. One wrong move in the middle of a full field of cars and you can forget about finishing the lap, let alone the race, thanks to INASCAR 99/I's extensive damage model. i--T. Byrl Baker/i p bPros:/b ul liClean, colorful track, car, and truck graphics liDecent physics model liLets players participate in several NASCAR series and events /ul bCons:/b ul liBad special-effects graphics liSetting up your car perfectly takes a lot of practice and patience /ul

1 out of 5 stars poor racing   June 4, 2002

I LIKE MANY WAS SOLD BY THE COVER AND VIDEO CLIPS AS SHOWN ON THE BACK,BEWARE THAT THE GAME GRAPHICS ARE SIMILIAR TO THE VERY FIRST NINTENDO PUT OUT AND SO FAR I SEE NO OPTION TO SELECT THE CAR OF MY CHOICE-ONLY THE COMPUTER GENERATED CAR WHICH IS UNCONTROLABLE TILL YOU FINE TUNE IT.THE OTHER CARS ON THE TRACK PASS THRU EACH OTHER MAKING RACING A JOKE,PLUS THEY DON'T EVEN START THE RACE LIKE TRUE NASCAR--IT STARTS FROM A DEAD STOP AND THE PC CARS MAGICALLY SHOOT OUT 1/4 A LAP AHEAD RIGHT OFF THE START.THIS IS THE WORST NASCAR GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED UNLESS YOUR A CREW CHIEF FOR A STOCK CAR RACE TEAM THE SET UP IS A TOTAL NIGHTMARE,WAY TOO IN DEPTH FOR THE AVERAGE GAMER WHO JUST WANTS TO RACE-NOT SPEND A DAY SETTING UP FOR ONE TRACK.IF YOU WANT A REAL KICKIN' GAME BUY NASCAR REVOLUTION SE,FOUND IN THE BLUE TOP TEN GAME COMBO.THIS GAME SETS THE CARS UP FOR YOU,THE GRAPHICS ARE TRULY PHENOMENAL AND FAR BETTER THAN PS2 OR X-BOX GAMES.THE CARS HANDLE MUCH BETTER AND DO NOT PASS THRU EACH OTHER,AND DO WRECK EACH OTHER AT TIMES.THE FUN FACTOR GOES THRU THE ROOF ON REVOLUTION SE,I'VE PLAYED IT SO MUCH I'VE GOTTEN BLISTERS ON MY THUMBS BUT IT'S THAT GOOD!!!!!A MUST FOR THE TRUE NASCAR PC GAMER---FOR THE BEST NASCAR GAME I'VE SEEN OUT YET--HAPPY RACING!!!
